Why? AKA The beginning, the start of this story...

I had a bad 2005 :o(

There were many contributing factors but enough said on that. That's history. The main point is that 2 positive things happened late 2005 (not in any specific order ;o) ). They are...

1/ With a little help from my friends, I made the decision that I'm going to travel the world - see the world while I am still what's known as young(ish), free(!) and single(uh-huh).
2/ Work offered me voluntary redundancy and I took it - well, I am being paid to leave...wouldn't you?

So one thing allows the other. How simple can it get? I suppose the only question that begs asking is, simply, "Why?".

I always thought it was a cliche to go travelling but last year, due to specific reasons, I had a very narrow focus on what I had to achieve in life. Then things changed and I took my blinkers off. Finally, I took a look around...and as I did, I heard a quote from the movie, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" in my head (yes...very melodramatic). It goes something like this...

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

A simple line in a funny movie...in my head, proved to be an inspiration. There were others, even some more important. There were also more reasons. Some ridiculous. Some made up. But do you need more reasons? Isn't this enough? Do I have to say the "I have to do this while I am young or I'll regret it" line? Well, there's a "Why?". You'll hear more, as well as get to hear the "Wheres?", "Hows?" and "Whens?" regularly.

So, to start with, it's just me. With a backpack. On planes, on trains and on automobiles...of all kinds.

I'm going to have a great 2006 :o)
